Inland Revenue Phishing Scams

Inland Revenue Phishing Scams …. have you received an email from HMRC stating you’re due a Tax Refund?

Currently there are many different “phishing” attacks via email purporting to be from HMRC Inland Revenue; these are Inland Revenue Phishing Scams – the department will never send notifications of a tax rebate / refund by email, or ask you to disclose personal or payment information by email.

HMRC will always notify you by post – never electronically

Do not click on the suggested link within the email

Do not forward the email to others – but do report it to the authorities (see below)

Do not visit the website contained within the email or disclose any personal or payment information as a response to the email

Report it to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk

Plenty of examples of the type of email (and email addresses used to send the email) you might receive at https://www.hmrc.gov.uk/security/examples.htm?CID=LA/
